#BlogLife1053 - Shed a tear or 6..

I've waited as long as I could. My eyes have been so dry and itchy and uncomfortable that I can't do without the eye drops.

I checked my supplies and I'm down to my last saline bottle. Ugh I don't even buy storing solution because contact lens products are too expensive.

It's supposed to be a cleaner, to cleanse the lens from eyelashes or grease.

A storing solution to moisturise them overnight in the lens case.

Then in the mornings. I use the cleaner and then the saline to rinse it off.

Plus not forgetting, once a month, I have to do the deep clean, using protein tablets.

I pop them in the case with the lens overnight and in the morning, clean them and it's supposed to be like having fresh comfy lens again.

But I'm happy I found a great deal on both. 4x saline bottles for under £9. I mean just over £2 each, a bargain!!

Then 6x eye drops for £7. Just a poundish each, wow, great value! It's just under £16.

Bulk buying at least where eye care is concerned just works out cheaper.

The saline can be £3/4 each for 1x bottle. The drops maybe £2/3 for 1x bottle too.

If I wanted less bottles, of course I could get them but they are used up so quickly, especially the eye drops.

For the same money but fewer bottles, it's not worth it. I need them to last a long time.

I hope the boiler isn't fritzing again, it was making a lot of noise last night and I blindly thought I put it on but it's cold.

Ok oops my fault, I didn't guess/press the up button high enough, it wasn't on but it is now.

That clicking sound is music to my ears. I just switched on the heated blankie too and got some crackers and butter for brekkie/lunch.

I can't believe I still went out and forgot to get some cheese, whoosh just went out of my mind.

The other things eventually to get are slippers, body butters but this time scented grr!

And I have no idea what else.. I guess clothes in smaller sizes but that doesn't seem like a priority, more vanity..

Yesterday I went ahead and blocked J on discord, as it's nearly a week and from regular chats to zero, seems off to me.

Something that really irritates me is everyone asking/saying.. Oh where you live is so expensive how do you afford it?

Everywhere, everything is pricey nowadays, use your damn brain and sniff out bargains, that's how I manage.

I use discount codes, coupons, deals, offers, whatever is available.

I might buy unknown brands or wait for certain days where a deal is guaranteed.

I only buy what I need. I don't borrow on credit cards. I use my existing funds, so only get what I can afford.

I might price around for the lowest cost. You have to be able to stretch the pennies in order to survive.

You can't just assume people will pay the highest amount, go to the fanciest restaurants, choose the expensive utilities providers etc....

Just because of where they are located. I'm assuming most people are savvy like me.

You can pick an upmarket restaurant and pay 2/3 times the amount, get less food and snooty service...

Or stick with a friendly cafe, get twice the amount of food for a fraction of the price.

These assumptions do my head in!

Oh lastly I've come to realise I have no current interest in fiction writing.

The stories don't compel me. I like the plots, I like the direction and the characters but for some reason, I am not excited about working on any of them.

I don't know why but I couldn't care less and I wish I did. Maybe I'll change my mind?

And every so often Twitter is still blocking my account and limiting my audience and I am getting so fed of it!

#BlogLife986 - Full sight for Christmas

I am absolutely shattered. It's been really rainy and windy. I got soaked.

At one point there was oodles of time and then it vanished. I had about 30 minutes to get to the Opticians before they closed for lunch at 1pm and the buses and traffic was a delayed mess.

Somehow I just made it and got a full spare set, wowser. I'm really pleased, I was not expecting that.

I will put this one lens away and use the new ones as he said this current one is scratched.

I only had a bit of cash on me so didn't get the fish and chips, ordered instead, I wonder if they'll find me or will I have to go out in the rain?

Or will they feed the neighbours, they are a good alternative to the cafe, plus they have a loyalty stamp card so after so many times, I get a discount.

But if they get lost, I won't use them again. I also got some sandwiches and pasta from Tesco and some Indian sweets, pity they didn't have the loose jalebi, only in a packet form.

And when he weighed it, it was £3. I could have told him to add more but I had been waiting a while and the tiredness had set in but at least I have a small treat.

Actually it's better I went out today and not tomorrow, I think the buses would have been even more late.

It's over and done with. I don't know if I'll be heading to Mama's on the 22nd or not.

I was fighting nausea all morning.

Oh and because of that, I opened the Pepsi gingerbread.. Umm it's very sweet, slight ginger taste.

It's actually not bad lol. I don't really like cola and pepsi for the sugar content but free is free and the nausea and stomach churning is really bad today.

A few sips of it, actually helped a lot. I felt like I was going to vomit on the bus and the idiot driver passed my stop, even though I rang the bell.

Why do they hate my stop? Every now and then, they do that and I want to scream at them.

Ok, the food arrived and that was a disaster he called me up but I couldn't understand him and just the effort of standing and walking I kept saying ouch.

Eventually he found it. I just fancied chunky chips. I have to admit, it's just down a long road and it took 30 minutes but it's piping hot.

I wish I said, vinegar on the chips no salt. I'm not sure it has either, tasty and fresh though.

I finally put in the new lenses, it's odd having one in my right eye, uncomfy but I put drops in and that helped.

Wow what a difference, it feels like I've new eyes with HD vision, everything is sharper and clearer.

But I keep worrying that I'll blink too much and the right one will fall out.

It doesn't really work like that, the most I have to be careful about is inserting and removing, that's when they tend to jump and I can't find them.

I'm still off fish, it turns out, I bought a cod burger to see and it's really seasoned nicely but I just am put off by fish.

It reminds me when I went off lamb, I used to love it but it just didn't taste right after a while.

I hope it's temporary, I like fish, it's better for you than meat. I would rather give up beef but I still like it.

I'm catching up on Sistas, a lot has changed and yet some things are the same..

I was going to post this yesterday but I think I was too tired. Just a note to say I've decided to start my Christmas BlogLife break now..

So now until January, I don't know if I'll be posting at all. I need to de-stress and look after myself as I do not feel healthy.

#BlogLife985 - Twitter punishing free account

I'm never going to pay for Twitter, I don't see the point. I can't see it making a huge difference to the blog, subscribers or readers.

Today while I did several advents at once on Twitter, I had about 5 tabs opens as they are slow to load..

This message came up saying, we're blocking your account until you prove you're human, there is suspicious activity.

Wtf??!! I've seen spam accounts, they don't write anything, it's retweets or pictures, I do write things as well as posting the daily posts.

So I refreshed, still there and there this weird challenge came up but even the mouse wouldn't move to the designated spot and then eventually it said, Oh you passed....

Continue but we are limiting your account or some crap so I don't know if my posts are visible.

It just irritated me and made me think, this is all because I have a free account..... Gits!!

What is worse is that they are not even removing the spam accounts. Why are they targeting mine???

Anyway it is what it is. If I have to move I will. There are several options to continue seeing new posts.

It's up to you. Bookmark the page, subscribe on FollowIt or follow on Twitter and hope that my tweets advertising new posts keeps working..

I finally cut my hair for Christmas, it was getting scruffy so that's done.

I'm surprised my nails are still long. I don't know whether to chop them short now, or after the holidays..

Oh and I got a text saying the contact lens is ready to be collected.

How strange to receive that on Sunday. Hmm it's awfully fast, it probably means it's only one spare lens and not a set.

I'm gutted about that. I expected it after Christmas. I should pick it up before they close for Christmas.

Oh and Mama's is pressuring me to join her for the break and I don't want too.

I don't know what excuse to give to get out of it. She doesn't want to be alone but I desperately need some peace and relaxation.

I deserve that at the very least.

I should take some more body measurements. I want to see if I've lost any more weight.

I feel like my tum is a lil smaller but it's hard to tell.. Although I have been snacking a lot.

Well yesterday I probably got my first and last small advent win, I got 500 nectar points to spend at Sainsbury supermarket or Argos, general store.

I think it's £2.50 but not sure it's even redeemable, meh. Oh and the Batchelor's soup thingy, didn't work out like I hoped.

It's impossible to get the noodles out, they are stuck and even after I warmed it's too slippery and the water just clung to them.

So kinda a waste. Will stick to the Covent Garden one when I next do a Zoomy.

Plus I really need that Badeas shampoo. I think the last couple of times, it's been sold out.

It makes my hair silky and nourished, when I'm at Mama's my scalp just dries out and it's not good.

But if I walk with liquids, it spills over my bag ugh, even the leave in conditioner is too big and bulky to carry.

I had a strange morning, the wifi said it was connected but it wouldn't load anything so I persisted and then eventually restarted the phone and that worked.

What I've noticed is sometimes the Samsung is non responsive, I've noticed that regularly, I'll be tapping and nothing happens.

Sometimes I have to close it and reopen the app and suddenly it's normal, odd.

I finally created the Christmas playlist for my phone, I've been meaning to do that for a while.

I'll just stick to the upbeat festive songs to perk me up when I'm drained.

I don't know if I'm hungry or just cold. At some point I'll take a blogging break to avoid burnout.

Another tooth fell out, it was wobbling for ages, at least it's out the back, sorry this is late, started to feel a bit sick.

Hopefully there is something on my brain to talk about tomorrow..

#BlogLife753 - Am I cracking up? Crackers for crackers (bad language)

I've gone off bread, rolls and rotis for a while so I thought I would get some crackers and dips.

I've been buying Krackawheat and Ritz and thought I would see what else is available.

I saw this 250g Gullon tub for a pound. I didn't know they did savoury things too.

And it was the garlic and herb version, the other one is cheese, but the first one sounds tastier and I was right.

They are tiny crackers but it's a huge tub that will last, who knows how long.

Hooray for once these crackers are not over salted, plenty of flavour and having just tried the Primula sour cream and chive, which I had a feeling I wouldn't like much but it's something different....

The garlic and herb one is strong but so tasty. I recommend that one. The sour cream and chives is bland, although it went well with the celery sticks I bought.

Plus when the dips finish, I still have the Nutini chocolate hazelnut which although is kept in the fridge, it spreads fairly easily.

Ha I know it's weird to double up on the garlic and herb but it's just so moreish. I can't help it :)

Just tried the malteser mint thingy. I wasn't really peckish but I thought it might ease the crampage.

It did a bit. At first there is no mint taste and then it hits you and you think hmm, why is this familiar?

It's not the best at all. Would I buy it again? Nopeee. It's like mouthwash and maltesers had a baby, that's the quality of it.

Not good as a dessert mint at all. I don't recommend it but then my taste buds could be different to yours..

As usual with some of the foodie and non items, will try and upload some photos.

Some still come out blurry though. Oh my that was a chore. I decided to do the Ocado mini shop as I had two vouchers and wanted to see if I could get away with using them both ha.

It's a shame, half my favourites were out of stock, love the samosas, the pakoras, hummus but all that was unavailable.

So at first the voucher, automatically displayed the discount but only £10 worth, it was supposed to be £15, then when I saw a lot of things weren't there, I went back to get alternatives.

I went to checkout again and this time no money off. Hmm I rang up customer services, got cut off, ughhh.

Called them again and at first she didn't really seem helpful, she said she would chase it up with their marketing team.

I was disappointed in that uncaring response and then maybe hearing it, she said, Actually you know what, I'll just send you the coupon straight away.

I thought Yay as I will get the full amount this time, but that also mean't no double greedy savings ha.

I would rather have £15 off, then £10 though and then went through fine.

I got my mild chicken sushi, sugar free drinks, Victoria sponge minis, that Muller mint yoghurt that tempted me, lol.

And of course my pitted black and green olives, that I just love snacking on throughout the day.

I did half my weekend pampering early. Massaged the hair oil in but this time, I didn't fancy using a lot, so just a bit, gave myself the usual relaxing scalp massage.

Oh and I've just done the washing and used the scent booster. Seemed like a whole capful.

I love that it uses essential oils. I'm not drowning in the fragrance though, it doesn't seem that strong.

Bit gutted about that. The next test when the clothes are dry, because I thoroughly soaked them in excess water, just to avoids stains by the fabric conditioner...

Is to see if the wonderful smell lingers for a while. Otherwise it's an expensive prop that I will not buy again.

My clothes takes ages to dry so I will hang them and see later..

It's the same typical thing, on the first day, the smell is strong but then it gets faint.

Up close, I can sense the fragrance but it's faint. I don't know if it's worth it, the clothes haven't dried yet lol.

I'm used to the perfume filling the whole room that's why it doesn't seem strong.

I picked up the clothes though and still smell it so maybe it is long lasting, just not how I pictured it.

Quite deliciously overpowering the whole room. Hmm.

Once again I chased up the contact lens, as she said call back on Wednesday when the person is dealing with orders will return.

I don't get how anyone just can't look up records and what pisses me off further, was that he the owner was there and too "busy" to talk on Monday.

When I called back, she left me on hold for ages and I thought you're brave, leaving someone irritated and keeping them waiting.

She finally returns and says Oh Yea, they've been miss-placed.

The owner isn't back until next week, he will re order them then, is that OK?????

Like fuck it isn't, but what choice do I have?? It took me badgering them, to realise it wasn't there??

Why couldn't you take the initiative and check during the 2 fucking months I've been calling to find out what the hell is happening???

Useless idiots!!! If I hadn't of called, I would still be waiting. Now I have to continue being messed around.

So I just added the least you can do is send it next day delivery when it arrives......

Silence! Bitchhhhhhhh! I am not a happy bunny!!! Considering I've been a long term customer, since I was a teenager, you would think there would be care for loyalty.

Like fuck there is!!

Do your fucking job properly. I'm sick of the blurriness!!!

#BlogLife715 - New face brush?

Oof I've had the old face brush for 8 years now and it seems to die quickly so I'm wondering if I should invest in a newer one that's a lil more powerful.

I'm still not going to pay that much and I typically just stick to using the bristles head attachment.

I don't think I would pay more than £15, this current one was just over a tenner but I had a gift card and they seem to last ages.

I saw one for £6 with a ton off extras, like a pumice, massage, spongey heads but the review put me off when it said, the power was on the weaker side.

My face does feel a lot better from using it and afterwards I massaged in the moisturiser and felt even smoother.

When I first considered it, it seemed so frivolous. A face brush? Isn't that for fancy people?

I'm careful with money. Do I really need this? Isn't it a bit self indulgent?

It's not often I get the bad acne breakouts all over my face, I get some but usually they fade away by themselves.

As I said I don't like face beaded scrubs as it's too harsh but the brush gives me that exfoliation without disrupting my skin.

I do see the benefits of using it, really removes makeup, makes your skin glow.

It's relaxing to give yourself a face massage. If you're a busy person, you don't have to spend more than 5 minutes using it and you'll still look better.

I spend maybe 1 or 2 minutes, going around my face a few times and that's it.

I'm not in a hurry so I will take my time and look for something suitable that fits my needs.

Ooh got my stationary pens, I'm so glad they are darker than they looked, it will make writing cherrier.

I like the Jamaican patties sometimes, I loved the lamb version, that one stood out to me.

I wanted to like the chicken but didn't but I'm eating less beef, craving it less so I thought I would once again try the chicken and there was a vegetarian option too.

It's just pastry and filling, you can eat it hot or cold, I like room temperature.so it's less soggy.

I really wish the cramps would disappear. Nope tried them both and don't like them.

It's as though they mistook pepper for seasoning.

Ugh yesterday the bad luck came in triplicate. My wobbly front tooth fell out and now I just feel hideous on the outside too.

I lost my left contact lens but made the appointment for next week being the earliest they could see me.

Which means they will order the lens and I won't get it for a few weeks :(

Then the boiler breaking so I can't wash my hair but luckily I have the heated blankie and it's summer, not winter for once.

I called up and he asked if I was vulnerable? Umm I suppose I don't see myself that way so I just replied that I was long-term ill and he said alright, in 24hrs you'll be texted with the engineer appointment.

Everytime someone asks if I'm a priority customer, I keep waiting to be grilled lol.

Like, Oh Yea, really, prove it, come on, provide details, huh huh ha. I don't know why, that's the way my brain is.

So that will be sorted before the weekend I guess. I tried switching it off and on but that didn't help.

I found the Optician receptionist a bit rude. She said I wasn't due until November but I haven't been there in years.

It's like she didn't want to make the date so I had to elaborate that I had lost my left lens and can't see properly and that I don't have spares..

Then she reluctantly consented. Yeesh you're not a Doctor's assistant!!

Last night was quite funny, after me and J were texting all day, he called and we chatted for a few hours until 1am or 2am.

He was different to what I envisioned from the brief first chat we had.

I didn't realise he was American. I knew that he was younger, they all seem to be, but he didn't volunteer that information.

Oh lastly, the brow lady beautician wasn't there, the ugly caterpillar brows continue to cover my face :(

#BlogLife260 - Eye on the prize

No matter how careful I am contact lenses always slip through my fingers. I had a dreadful morning when one just disappeared while I was trying to insert it in my eye.

At first I thought it was inside but in the wrong place. The thing about losing them means you need both frigging eyes to find them again.

My technique is I find as much as light as I can, try not to move and feel and shine it in the immediate areas. If that doesn't work I expand slowly and try not to step on it, in case it is laying on the floor.

There are times when it's on the clothes I am wearing so I stand carefully try to feel for it and if unsuccessful, I shake and see if it comes loose in a targeted area.

That is what happened today, as soon as I shook, I saw a glint of colour and noticed it, thankfully. I really didn't feel like making an appointment to replace it.

Iceland has run out of Always maxi pads and those are really the only brand I prefer to use. The rest are too thin and not absorbent enough.

I forgot to purchase some in the market and don't really want to walk that 20 minute painful distance to get them but I fear I may have too.

I have some at home, a few packets but I always fret that I will run out. I hope they return and that the anti bacterial hand sanitizers come back too.

I am down to my last one and don't wish to pay £3 for a bottle. The gel version is cheaper but lingers on the hand, the spray immediately disappears without a trace, which is why I love it.

I guess I can check on Ebay or Amazon. Hmm Ebay is overpriced and Amazon seems to be more reasonable to get a multi pack and save money with postage costs.

I still feel a lil unsettled truthfully. Being told what to do is akin to being bullied, especially when there isn't a choice.

I can stand my ground and disagree but memories flood into my mind of when I didn't have a say at all and just shrank away.

I felt powerless and scared. This is not the same situation but I still feel unnerved. As though somebody is going to come along and take my voice away again and I can't cope with that.

It's a process and I'll just have to ride it out. I made my objections clear and they were mostly respected but I think it boils down to a white lie.

"I was just joking."

Which I don't feel is the case in some elements because this person has tried to force my hand, many times and I have refused and they persist and it's not respecting my boundaries.

Then suddenly they back off but always with a parting shot. As though that justifies it and it doesn't.

Give your opinion and say, well what I like, what is best for me is.... This path right here.

I don't know if it is the same for you but I hope it is. My wish is that it benefits you and so I recommend it but only if that is the right thing for you to do.

I've said my opinion and I'll back off now, what you choose to do next is completely up to you and I will accept your decision, without prejudice, thanks for hearing me out!!

See that above, is what I need to hear, not that judgemental bs.

My opinion is law and you will abide by it!

Go screw yourself!!!

#BlogLife48 - Things people say to contact lens wearers

I've been wearing hard prescription contact lens since I was about 16yrs I think and I get asked or told the same things over and over again.

It takes every ounce of self control not to roll my eyes. This is for the curious amongst you and my lovely fellow lens users.

I could do never do that, I hate touching my eyes.

You get used to it.

All that effort, is it even worth it?

What effort? Oh you mean buying saline to store the lens in and rinse them from the cleaner?

Purchasing a tiny overpriced cleaner to disinfect the lens from moisture, makeup, eyelashes, scratches, general dirt?

Obtaining overpriced protein tablets to get rid off build up from your eyes watering?

Getting lens cases that are designed to leak so you waste product and then cannot even see if your lens are even safely stored.

Plus you can't even see how far to fill it up because it is transparent. Who was the idiot that designed those?

But yes it is worth it.

Why?

You people with perfect vision have no idea what it is like to look out and see blurriness. It's actually a pretty scary experience.

There are times when in the morning, my glasses have fallen and I need those to see where my lens case is or to see in general.

I used to love swimming but I hated removing my lenses and walking around only sensing blurry outlines. It's a horrible feeling.

The same as being outdoors when it's dark and then I can't make out shapes at all. I recall when I was little before I had lenses and getting up to go to the bathroom or kitchen and not being able to see the light switch.

I knew the layout of the house obviously but somehow not being able to see made everything turn around. I wasn't able to get my bearings.

But still though, I don't want to deal with that, I'll just wear glasses.

That obviously means you do not have an insanely high prescription like I do. I am extremely short sighted. My world was tiny wearing spectacles.

I couldn't see out of the sides. I couldn't wear sunglasses. I would get lots of headaches from the sun and general eye strain. I could see but not well.

I struggled with reading, writing, signs, numbers and especially seeing people from a distance. It was all unrecognisable.

People were always offended that I ignored them. The truth is I couldn't see who they were, sometimes even up close. I was unsure.

I still don't understand what makes contact lenses worthwhile?

The only way I know how to explain it, is this. When I wore glasses it felt like I had 50% vision. The day I tried on lenses, my eyes were watering..

The optometrist was shouting not to blink but despite all of that, when he said go walk around and see how it feels.

I was amazed. Accurately it isn't true but I felt like to me I had 100% vision. I could see completely from the front and sides. I found everything easier.

I was constantly told my vision wasn't weakening but improving and that I was doing well.

That is why I love that I am a contact lenses wearer even though I lose the tiny suckers all the time. It still beats the alternative!

I hope that clarified everything to anyone interested. Yes my eyes water every morning and occasionally it burns when the lenses are in, as the cleaner lingers on the lens but it is life.

I forgot to mention the random fogging up on the lenses that are clean but when I blink, laugh, get warmer, it goes all hazy and I can't see properly :D
