#BlogLife402 - Cutting hair in the dark

I was getting ready for bed last night and I braided my hair as I hate having it loose when I'm tossing and turning.

If I put a bobble on the end, it rarely lasts all night, plus it keeps rubbing against my scalp.

I'm trying to leave it free as it was shoulder length but as I felt it, I thought it seems like ages since I trimmed it.

The light was off and I wasn't planning to cut it so soon but I thought what the hell, just do it.

I don't think I've ever cut it in front of the mirror. I recommend you do that for evenness and so that you don't cut your ears off ha!

But I just wing it, which is why it's probably never level at the back but I'm not fussed to be honest.

Maybe because it hasn't been washed for a few days, it's actually looking stylish.

The ends are still flicking upwards naturally and before having short hair, they never did that.

I'm gonna call it the Betty Rubble peacock style :D

My hair was always dead straight, unless I plaited it. It might now look old fashioned but I really love it.

On this style, i could get away with it being out and free. I'm just not sure how it's going to appear, when it's washed.

Normally one side has the volume and the other is flat or it's a bit frizzy.

At the moment it's straight aside from the ends and it's polished as though it has hair spray in it.

Usually it looks weird straight as though it hangs flat and it's too short for my face.

It's making me laugh that I haven't used curlers and all I have to do to fluff up the ends is puff them upwards with my hands.

Oh if you're curious, I don't cut it at an angle, I just cut it as horizontally straight across as I can.

I have seen some Christmassy clips to buy but I'm not paying over a fiver just because they look pretty.

I don't know about you but my hair accessories don't last long until they fall apart, so it's generally a waste of money to spend too much.

I've just had a close up of my do in the mirror, I think the back looks alright but the front needs pinning.

Some of the strands are uncurled and the rest are but I'm pleased with it. It's about ear level now, which is the shortest I've ever had it.

It's not layered as such but in the front there are shorter strands here and there but it works and blends well.

Ooh I just came up with a concept, a Frizz Free Frostess Flipper wand to blow only concentrated cold air on your locks and tame the frizz or make it soft and wavy,

Ha I know I'm nuts but I've been using cold air on my hair for ages to avoid heat damage and fallout and it works well.

Aww I'm gutted, one of the tops I order was damaged so they've given me a refund and discount on my next order.

It was quite a Christmassy unique top, blue and black and what seemed like white glitter but it isn't, it's just very glamorous.

Especially for plus sized clothing. Normally it's flowers and other unimaginative variations.

An update on my skin from using the mask and cleanser. It's mostly smooth. There are a few small blemishes.

I have a few acne scars and other than that, it's clear but there are a few dry patches on my forehead and cheeks.

#BlogLife376 - Half sexy construction/lumberjack worker ensemble

Hey all. How did you sleep last night? I honestly could have killed my neighbours bang, thud, crash, bang BANG! Grrr!

This went on from 11pm when I went to bed, really tired actually until maybe 2/3am.

Even through headphones I heard them, such utter idiots!!! How are you so thoughtless and unaware or uncaring that people are trying to sleeeeeeeep!!!

Anyway the lil rest that I did get was pretty deep and rejuvenating. I woke up at 6am and fell back asleep until maybe 7ish and didn't get up until 8ish.

It was a very sluggish morning but I was excited to try the boots and trousers. Even my hair behaved itself.

I didn't really have much time to do anything and still catch an early bus, no makeup at all but no matter I was in a good mood.

The bottom half of me looked male lmao. Baggy trousers and almost workmen booties. I didn't think the brown and grey would work together but damn it was a cute ensemble.

The only thing is I'm a shortie at under 5ft8 sooo pants pretty much swim on me.

You can't see the boots, just the tips, the trousers are at this point on the ground.

They look great but I seem to be in-between sizes. The hip area, lil too big, the waist, kinda big and it almost feels like I need to hike them up while walking as they slide down, not dangerously so but enough... To worry me.

I don't really like belts. If there was someone local, I would have them, hem them in a bit

The booties are mostly comfy, the tongue bit started digging in but I rearranged it and tucked my trousers in and it was better.

They look way more expensive than £20 hee hee. Sadly they don't stay tucked in.

I guess some people would fold them over.. Hmmm I'm not sure if they would stay like that anyway...

And others would just wear heels but I'm at the point where I can't do even block heels or platforms anymore, the mobility is really excruciating so flat it is.

Aside from the quirks I'm pleased with my choices. Oh on the top side I was donning this flowery bluey/purply top so that looked feminine.

But from the waist down I felt kinda man-nish ha. I didn't care though, I felt confident and perky.

It feels like it has been a while since I was happy with an outfit.

#BlogLife348 - Heavy handed beauty

I feel like I have just done the last of my beauty treatments, although I do have to epilate my legs still and probably pluck the brows a bit more also.

Plus if I am completely honestly, take care of my fuzzy top lip but that's just between you an moi and no-one else. Shhh.

Friday while I was enjoying a gentle massage with the trusty face brush, I overdid it and it ended up dripping into my eyes.

I thought I had caught it all but nope, the stinging burning bloodshot eyes told a different story, ouchy ouch ouch.

I flushed my eyes with water and then doused them in eye drops but it took a few hours for them to stop watering and hurting.

I'm happy to say they look and feel normal again but it was made that much worse by wearing lenses that I couldn't take out, otherwise I wouldn't be able to see or read.

I ended up keeping them in and wincing but at least I could function.

Oh by the way my ears have healed up, no more swelling or rashes. If I had aloe vera  I would have applied it.

I just left them alone and tried to keep it as clean as possible. It's not easy when it's extra itchy.

Even though I recently trimmed my hair, I thought I would level it up today.

It felt satisfying cutting a further inch and a half/two off and by the time I did the whole area..

It was the shortest I've ever had it. Above my neckline. I didn't want it that high up but my hair grows fairly quickly and I can always clip it up and curl it.

I'm not too fussed. It felt really healthy snipping those ends off. It's just a shame it barely fits into a ponytail now.

I'll have to get creative with it, forcing me to spend more time, I guess that isn't a bad thing.

Lastly I gave myself a pedicure as I'm having a professional one done with an eyebrow shape.

I just wanted to look semi presentable. At least after my crazy cuts, I don't feel sad about wasting the money on a terrible cut and I feel more confident that it has bounce and texture, plus finesse.

I loved the shampooing scalp massage but after every cut they put tons of oil into my hair so it laid flat and stuck to my face.

You would think they would gaige it, to the person's hair needs but no they doused my hair every time and made it look soo thin and boring.

When I'm at home and I'm fixing my hair, I tend to shake it and that gives it instant lift.

As much as I hated the decision to go short as it was see through and stringy, I'm realising I can play about with it more, when it was longer, it didn't really do anything.

As strange as it is with my chubby round face.. I genuinely think my hair looks better now.

It feels lighter and I look more fashionable. I always felt like I was missing out on an edgier cut.

I've tried so many incompetent rude stylists before. You'd think not having the skills to please their customers would make them humble but noooope, false promises all the way.

Yep yep I can make you look like that picture. Me naively believing it and afterwards....

It looks not even a fraction alike. Useless!! There was enough hair to play with.

I guess I worry less because it's already thinning, my scalp is visible and  most of the family is the same way.

All I can do is try to keep it in my own chic unique style and remind myself that if you look at glamorous models, you can plainly see their scalp and thinning hair too.

The difference with them is volumisers and back combing and hair pieces, which is not my thing at all.

I want to be natural and work with the lil hair I have and make it jazzy and cute.

It always bugged me that hairdressers were quick to incessantly harp on that my hair wasn't thick, yet they did nothing at all to give it any body so instead of feeling perky when I left, I felt worse each time.

Going to them just mean't cutting my dead hair. I couldn't seem to do it myself so I relied on them until I christened myself a stylist and suddenly enjoyed getting it trimmed.

#BlogLife325 - Summer glow

I have been trying to be careful and budget but there was a few items that I really did need.

I kept faithfully checking the stock levels at Marks and Spencers and today my blue and pink bras were in stock yay.

I quickly bought them and paid for the weekend postage. It stated they were coming from different stores and might be delivered late..

I'm not sure how that is supposed to work with priority deliveries. I guess I will find out.

I think I've played it safe with darker colours so I guess even though no-one will see it, I felt like being brighter and more playful in my choices.

I also saw a multi print top that was mostly blue and grey and another long sleeved top that was like tiger print but more subtle and that had various colours.

I picked the blue/purply looking type. I hope the sleeves are really long, I hate when they stop in the middle of the wrist.

I much prefer them to cover it completely and then some as I always pull them down.

I know it's summer and I'm supposed to wear short sleeves but I've never liked my arms so that's out.

I want to be comfy when I'm out, not self conscious. The tops are due with hermes, maybe early next week.

I hope it isn't Tuesday as I won't be here. The Marks is either DPD or Hermes/Evri.

It's difficult to navigate away from the safe drab dark shades because I'm used to covering up and blending in.

It's a pickle when you're caught in between wanting to not be noticeable and still needing to be seen a lil.

I've felt the same way even when I barely had meat on my bones, it's a confidence thing and mine fluctuates.

But I do relish picking out pretty items and I do get noticed but nowadays I'm not thinking it's negative..

I'm choosing to believe they are admiring my fashion sense and wondering where I purchased it.

The hardest thing was ditching my jacket in the summer where I'm all safely hidden no bulgy bits are not on display.

Big arms, legs, tum tum. However I just chose to spin it to the positive, that I got to show off these beautifully patterned outfits, no matter what my size.

Which helped immensely. I think that's why I'm so fussy. A part of me will always feel as though people are looking and scoffing at my voluptuousness and thinking ugh, how unattractive.

These days I'm dong better, with or without makeup. I'm just listening to music and trying to see myself as someone who is and looks as good as anyone else!!

Whatever you wear and get upto this weekend. Try and feel that inner glow and fuzziness about yourself.
